At FGKC, we feel very strongly that, despite what the daily news and doom scrolling would have us believe, there is much good work going on in the world. Our goal is to do our part to facilitate even a fraction of that good work, and the powerful people and organizations leading these efforts, through our grant writing and storytelling capabilities. With more than 1.51 million 501(c)3 nonprofits in the U.S. alone and just over 10,500 grant writers (IRS/Zippia, 2023), the need for grant writing services is enormous. With budget dollars so difficult to come by for nonprofits, such services should not be cost inhibitive.
My undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, as well as my graduate credits from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, emphasized English Literature, Creative Writing, and Composition and Rhetoric. Following a misguided attempt at a career in logistics and distribution management, I recalled my passion and skills as a writer and lover of stories and decided to share it. For the next 10 years I was a secondary teacher of Composition, World and American Literature, Journalism and Creative Writing. During this time I also worked as a writer for the local newspaper.
Since 2020 I have worked as a grant writer and development manager in the nonprofit sector, primarily supporting the arts and culture, but also working to gain financial support for entrepreneurial development in the Kansas City metro. In the past 5 years I have garnered more than $1 million in funding, maintaining an average application success rate of 31.5%. I look forward to working to support your mission, and am excited to learn more about your organization!
